What’s new? How much does it cost? And how does it perform? Mike Robertson brings you the low down on the G/Fore Gallivan2r Tuxedo golf shoe.
In 2023 I exclusively wore the comfiest golf shoe that has ever been made – the G/Fore Gallivanter. But 2024 has seen the arrival of the new Gallivan2r Tuxedo, so I was delighted to be our tester and hoped that these were as good or better than the previous model.
NCG SUMMARY
The Gallivan2r Tuxedo is the perfect blend of traditional and modern. They look very classy and smart, like a more traditional golf shoe, but are packed with tech to make them feel more like a sneaker. They are extremely comfortable right out of the box so there is none of that needing-to-be-broken-in phase. I wore them straight out of the box for 18 holes. I also really love the colourway but there are plenty others to choose from. The Gallivan2r are now strongly in the rotation for 2024.
PROS
- Perfect blend of traditional looks with modern tech.
- The comfiest golf shoes going
- Great traction while swinging a club

G/Fore Gallivan2r Tuxedo Golf Shoe Review: First Impressions
G/Fore’s marketing is always bright and bold – so when the Gallivan2r arrived, the box was eye-poppingly bright pink, and I couldn’t wait to see the colourway. They look different from the Gallivanter. I’d say slightly more toward the sneaker end of the scale than the previous model. They come with an extra set of laces which is a nice touch, especially for someone who cleans their golf shoes after every round and is a little OCD.
NCG Verdict
Out on the course, I really couldn’t fault these shoes. I have now worn them during multiple rounds and have received compliments from playing partners. The colourway I have is a bold look, and my regular partners usually offer no form of compliment—so that says it all! I also tested them during a particularly wet spring round, and the waterproof element completely held up. My feet were dry, even if the rest of me wasn’t.
My previous G/Fore shoes were a size UK 11, but I felt they were slightly big, so I went with 10.5 here, and they were perfect. They are snug without being tight, so the stability is great. The heel is quite high, which is a nice feature, especially for someone with an old football ankle injury (I could have made it without the injury—honest). That extra layer of stability really helps when swinging fast or on wet turf.
To conclude, these shoes quickly became a personal favourite and will be worn throughout 2024 – which will be a lot of golf! I quite often play 3 or 4 days in a row on trips, sometimes 36 holes in a day, so the comfort of these shoes will really help. I was also pleased that after a venture (ok, a FORE RIGHT!) into the mud, they cleaned up easily, so that’s a huge win. – View Deal
