LeBron James will be 40 years old at in December and many are wondering how many more seasons he has left to play in the league, if any.
Incredibly, it will LeBron’s 22nd NBA season in 2024-25, but does he take the court next season or just retire?
James’ longtime agent and friend Rich Paul thinks he will do the former.
“Yeah, you know, I believe so… The guy has committed more than half of his life to the game of basketball…I think we do see him next year,” Paul said on SiriusXM NBA Radio. “Now, how many more after that? I do not know. But I think he’s got maybe two or three years left in the tank, maybe.”
James’ most recent comments about playing future were in April.
He was asked how long he expect to continue playing in the league.
“Not very long. … I’m not gonna play another 21 years, that’s for damn sure,” The Lakers star said. “But not very long. I don’t know when that door will close as far as when I’ll retire. But I don’t have much time left.”
There is a huge amount of chat surrounding not only how much time LeBron has left in the NBA, but where he will play his last few seasons.
Sports personality Cari Champion sent Lakers fans into a spin when she shared some interesting information about LeBron, just hours before the Lakers do-or-die clash with the Nuggets.
“Just got a text from my friend. He says tonight is LeBron’s last game in purple and gold,” Champion, a former SportsCenter anchor, wrote on X.
The 2024 NBA Draft may provide further clarity on what LeBron’s future plans are.
If his son Bronny decides to enter the draft, James may go to whichever team drafts him, so he can fulfil his dream of playing in the league alongside him.
We are yet to see a father and son duo take an NBA court at the same time and play for the same team, so James will be entering the history books yet again if this was to happen.
