Richards and Carter-Vickers ruled out with injuries

Chris Richards, Cameron Carter-Vickers sidelined with respective injuries

New U.S. men’s national team head coach Mauricio Pochettino may be without two defensive options for the upcoming friendlies against Panama and Mexico in October.

Chris Richards and Cameron Carter-Vickers are both dealing with injuries, making them unavailable for weekend matches. Even though there are still two weeks until the games against Panama in Austin, Texas, their absence would be significant.

Richards missed Crystal Palace’s recent loss to Everton in the English Premier League due to a hamstring injury. Despite appearing in six games for the team, they have yet to secure a win in their opening six league fixtures.

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner mentioned in a prematch press conference that “We lost Chris Richards this week. He is not available for the next week as he has a hamstring injury.” The team’s next match before the international break is against Liverpool on October 5th.

Cameron Carter-Vickers was absent from Celtic’s recent victory against St. Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership due to a toe injury, as confirmed by manager Brendan Rodgers.

Despite the injury, Carter-Vickers has been a key player in Celtic’s defense and will be closely monitored leading up to the UEFA Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund.

Rodgers mentioned, “He has a pain on his big toe at the joint there, so we just need to look at that for every game. He has been playing with it for a little while but we have got to try and manage it because he was in pain during the Bratislava game. Hopefully it will settle down quite quickly and it will settle down for Tuesday.”

With seven appearances for Celtic and 18 USMNT caps, Carter-Vickers will be hoping to recover in time for the upcoming matches. Celtic’s next games are against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday and Ross County on October 6th.
