Rio Ferdinand shares his thoughts on Ineos replacing Sir Alex Ferguson as Manchester United ambassador – Updates on Man United News and Transfers

Rio Ferdinand reacts to Ineos ending Sir Alex Ferguson’s stint as Manchester United ambassador - Man United News And Transfer News

Rio Ferdinand appears astonished with INEOS’s decision to slash Sir Alex Ferguson’s ambassador role at Manchester United.

United, who currently sit 14th in the Premier League table, headed into October’s international break on a five-game winless run.

Still, the club’s new hierarchy have so far decided against pulling the trigger over Erik ten Hag’s tenure at Old Trafford, and all things point to the Dutch coach staying in charge of the Red Devils against Brentford this weekend.

The development has led to many fans on social media questioning Sir Jim Ratcliffe and company’s ruthlessness.

Amid this, INEOS have raised plenty of eyebrows by making a big call on the future of the club’s greatest manager ever.

As per multiple reports, the Premier League giants have ended a multi-million pound annual commitment to Ferguson as part of its ongoing cost-cutting measures.

Ferdinand took to X to express his thoughts on the bold move, stating Ferguson’s departure as United’s ambassador suggests “no one is safe” at the club.

Considering just how adored and respected Ferguson is at the Theatre of Dreams, INEOS have indeed sent a message that they are not afraid of making unpopular decisions.

While the decision is part of a club-wide restructure and does not have any connection to United’s on-field performances, it certainly should act as a wake-up call to the coaching staff and players as well.

The economic drive has already seen 250 staff cut from the United payroll during the summer.

The job cuts also saw the departure of lead youth development phase coach Neil Harris, who spent 21 years at the club.

Harris played a key role in the development of many United youngsters and following his exit, he received personal messages from the likes of Scott McTominay and Anthony Elanga.
