Rival Teams Speculate Sixers Might Pursue Trade for Jimmy Butler

Rival Teams Think Sixers Could Trade For Jimmy Butler

According to reports, Jimmy Butler is looking for an extension from the Miami Heat during this offseason. Butler still has two years left on his current contract, which includes a player option for the 2025-26 season. It remains uncertain where the Heat stand on committing more money to Butler in the future, considering his age and recent injury.

If the Heat are hesitant to offer an extension, there are rumors that the Philadelphia 76ers may try to trade for Butler. The Sixers are expected to have over $60 million in cap space this summer as they look to build around Joel Embiid and re-sign Tyrese Maxey.

Butler previously played for the 76ers for part of a season after being acquired from the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, he was later traded to the Heat in a sign-and-trade deal following the 2018-19 season.
