Deshaun Watson’s struggles continue to plague the Cleveland Browns, with the quarterback failing to surpass 200 passing yards in five consecutive games.

Despite mounting pressure, head coach Kevin Stefanski remains committed to Watson, at least for now.

However, the calls for change are growing louder, with many advocating for Jameis Winston to step in and revitalize the stagnant offense.

Four-time Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski has joined the chorus of voices suggesting a change under center.

During the halftime show of the Commanders-Browns game, Gronkowski emphasized the need for a spark, pointing out Cleveland’s league-worst third-down conversion rate.

“They gotta start looking at Jameis Winston and the possibility of putting him into the game,” Gronkowski stated.

Watson’s performance on Sunday did little to quell concerns. In a 34-13 loss to the Commanders, he completed just 15 of 28 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown, adding a mere 14 rushing yards on three carries.

The disappointing outing has only intensified discussions about potentially benching the high-priced quarterback, a move that could either send a strong message or motivate Watson to elevate his game.

The Browns’ current predicament is particularly frustrating given their playoff appearance last season with Joe Flacco at the helm.

Expectations were high entering 2024, but the team’s performance has fallen well short of those aspirations.

As Watson prepares for a Week 6 road matchup against a well-rested Eagles defense coming off its bye, the pressure will continue to mount.
