Coming into the first Sunday of the 2024 NFL season, one of the most anticipated matchups of the day with CJ Stroud’s Houston Texans taking on the Indianapolis Colts and promising young quarterback Anthony Richardson, who is back healthy after missing most of his rookie campaign last year.

With the Texans proving to be one of the best teams in the league last season and the Colts showing promise while Richardson was healthy and on the field, the consensus seemed to be this would be an epic battle between two of the most talented young quarterbacks in the NFL.

Although Stroud got most of the attention coming into this game as he proved himself last season leading the Texans to a division title and a playoff win, Richardson had his chance to shine on Sunday while trying to prove he’s worthy of being in the same conversation as Stroud for being a quarterback with a bright future in the NFL.

Even though the Colts fell short of pulling off the upset over the Texans on Sunday, Richardson showed he’s back to form as a versatile quarterback who can be a nightmare for opposing defenses.

Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III was impressed by Richardson’s performance against the Texans, especially when he threw this 60-yard bomb to Alec Pierce for a touchdown.

If Richardson can stay healthy, which will be the primary concern moving forward with how much he runs during these Colts games, he will have a chance to make Indianapolis relevant in the AFC once again while potentially being the NFL Comeback Player of the Year.

It’ll be interesting to see what Richardson can do from here on out and whether he’ll make the Colts a legitimate playoff team moving forward.
