The New York Jets are under a lot of pressure right now.

Plenty of big fish in the organization could lose their jobs depending on how things go in 2024, including GM Joe Douglas, OC Nathaniel Hackett, and — of course — HC Robert Saleh.

So, with the mandatory minicamp set to finish on Thursday, the coach wanted to make sure that everybody was in line and on the same page ahead of the 40-day break before the actual training camp (via Paul Andrew Esden Jr).

Saleh told his players that the next 40 days would be key to determining how things go down in the season, as they could either gain some ground against their competitors and separate themselves from them or just flush the season down the drain with what they do — or don’t do — in the next month or so.

Being an NFL player is a year-round job, even if the season only lasts for a few months.

They must stay in top shape and keep training and working out, and that is why they’re entitled to some time off like everybody else.

The Jets will be a team on a mission in 2024, and everybody must be committed and bought in to get the job done.

So, even though we’re still months away from the start of the regular season, the players must have a playoff-like mindset every single day until they actually take the field.
