Andy Roddick, the former world No. 1 and 2003 U.S. Open champion, is set to enhance ESPN’s tennis commentary team during the upcoming Wimbledon and U.S. Open events. The esteemed player, who has transitioned into a media role, recently inked a multi-year agreement to serve as both a match commentator and studio analyst for these prestigious tournaments.
Roddick, known for his powerful serve and competitive spirit, has maintained a strong presence in tennis beyond his playing days. His experience in the media realm includes the popular podcast “Served,” which he co-hosts with Jon Wertheim, showcasing his insights and love for the sport.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the role, Roddick said, “Simply, I’m always just a massive fan of tennis. I’m very excited to join the ESPN tennis team and look forward to covering the two biggest tournaments in the world.”
As a competitor, Roddick reached the pinnacle of the sport, ascending to the top ranking in 2003. His career featured a mix of highs and lows, including four runner-up finishes in Grand Slam finals, all of which came at the hands of tennis legend Roger Federer. Roddick faced Federer in three Wimbledon finals (2004, 2005, and 2009) and again at the U.S. Open in 2006.
