West Ham United manager Julen Lopetegui appears to be secure in his position, with Fabrizio Romano dismissing rumors about the board’s hesitancy in appointing him this summer.
In an exclusive interview with CaughtOffside for his latest Daily Briefing column, Romano refuted claims that Hammers chief Tim Steidten was opposed to Lopetegui’s hiring, asserting that the entire club was aligned on this decision.
Lopetegui’s tenure at the London Stadium has started poorly, leaving West Ham supporters eager for improvements to avoid a tough season ahead.
Although the switch from David Moyes seemed appropriate at the time, Lopetegui has yet to prove himself as the ideal successor.

The 58-year-old enjoyed success at Wolves and boasts experience from managing Real Madrid and the Spanish national team, but his current struggles at West Ham are apparent.
Lopetegui West Ham latest from Romano
“West Ham reached a consensus on the appointment of Julen Lopetegui,” Romano disclosed.
“Steidten, Sullivan, and Lopetegui have been in sync since day one, including their collaboration in the transfer market.
“Rumors suggesting that Steidten dissuaded Sullivan from hiring Lopetegui are purely speculative.
“Multiple sources have affirmed this, indicating long-standing alignment among key decision-makers.”
West Ham also underwent significant squad changes over the summer, which may have contributed to Lopetegui’s need for more time to settle in and familiarize himself with the new players.
