Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester United is keen on acquiring Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba.
The Red Devils had previously shown interest in the talented 21-year-old during the summer transfer window, but negotiations fell through due to Brighton’s high asking price.
Despite this setback, United continues to keep a close watch on Baleba, who is seen as a potential solution by manager Ruben Amorim and his scouting team, as confirmed by Romano.
Addressing midfield issues is crucial for United as they strive to equip Amorim with the appropriate tools to achieve success.
Concerns Persist over United’s Midfield
Manchester United’s midfield has raised significant concerns, with players like Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte struggling to maintain consistent performances, while the future of Kobbie Mainoo remains uncertain.
Romano shared, “I can assure you that discussions about Carlos Baleba are ongoing within Manchester United. He is still viewed as an ideal candidate by Ruben Amorim and his team.”
“While a January transfer seems unlikely, should Brighton be open to letting Baleba go, Manchester United will be ready to make their move. They are in regular communication with individuals close to the player.”
The club is currently waiting for Brighton’s decision regarding Baleba’s future.
Focus on Carlos Baleba

Despite the distraction caused by Manchester United’s interest over the summer, confidence remains high within the club regarding Baleba’s potential contribution.
He is viewed as a key player who could strengthen United’s midfield and enhance the connection between their defensive and offensive lines.
