Washington Huskies star wide receiver Rome Odunze is looking to land in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, and he feels pretty confident that he will be able to do so.
Rome Odunze Expresses Confidence Ahead of NFL Draft
In a recent interview with The Pivot Podcast, Odunze was asked if he is the best wide receiver in the draft.
“I believe so, I do,” Odunze responded. “I think I’m the best wide receiver in the draft. Just because of my versatility, who I am as a player. I think when you turn on the tape, I don’t see anything that is missing compared to the other guys or something that they have that I don’t.”
Odunze was complimentary of the other receivers in his draft class. Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr. and LSU’s Malik Nabers will join Odunze on Draft Night. The trio are expected to be the top three receivers off the board.
“They’re tremendous players as well, it’s not like there’s a gap between this person and this person — we’re all right there,” Odzune said. “But I just see myself at the tippy top cause of the film, what’s on there, what I’m capable to do, what I’m able to do for a couple years now, and the skills I have that I think will project very well into the league.”
Odunze made the same claim at the NFL Scouting Combine in March.
“I am the best wide receiver in this class,” Odunze said at the Combine. “I just think my versatility sets me apart. I have shown all the skills that translate to the NFL at a high level. And I think who I am as a person, who I will be in a locker room, and who I will be on the field are all an A-plus.”
Odunze’s Potential in the NFL
After racking up 75 catches for 1,145 yards and seven touchdowns in 2022, Odunze had a case to declare for the 2023 NFL Draft. But he chose to return to school, which paid off.
Returning to a Huskies attack that included himself, Michael Penix Jr., Ja’Lynn Polk, and Jalen McMillan, Odunze took a massive step toward his ceiling as a dominating offensive force. In the lead-up to the CFB National Championship game, Odunze caught 87 passes for 1,553 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Odunze was a Biletnikoff Award finalist alongside Harrison and Nabers and also earned All-American recognition and first-team All-Pac-12 honors.

Pro Football Network draft analyst Ian Cummings said Odunze grades out as a top-15 and early-to-mid first-round prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft and is arguably a top-three WR prospect with Harrison and Nabers.
“Overall, he’s a versatile weapon with usage flexibility and dynamic RAC value, but he also has the operational utility to produce on Day 1 in the NFL,” Cummings wrote.
“As a route runner, Odunze flashes exceptional spatial awareness, hinge fluidity, freedom of motion, manipulation ability, and throttle control. And as a catcher, he’s an elite instinctive force with an awe-inspiring blend of patience, ball-tracking ability, and coordination. Ultimately, any knocks on Odunze amount to minor nitpicking.”
