According to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index, Cristiano Ronaldo has made history as the first active footballer to amass a billion-dollar fortune. This milestone was reached following the inclusion of his net worth for the first time in the index.
Ronaldo, who is already recognized as the highest-paid football player in the world, substantially increased his wealth with a lucrative contract extension with Al Nassr of the Saudi Pro League earlier this year, reportedly valued at over $400 million.
The report highlighted that his tax-free agreement and lucrative endorsements with brands like Armani and Nike have significantly contributed to his financial success.
In addition to his financial achievements, the 40-year-old forward remains a prominent figure in sports. With 141 goals in 223 international matches, he is the leading scorer in men’s international football. Despite his family’s wishes for him to retire, Ronaldo has expressed a desire to continue playing.
“My family says it’s time to stop, that I’ve done everything. They wonder why I want to reach a thousand goals,” Ronaldo stated in a recent interview with Canal 11. “However, I still feel that I am contributing positively to my club and national team, so why shouldn’t I keep pushing forward?
“I know my career won’t last forever, but while I still have the chance, I want to enjoy every moment authentically,” he added.
On a recent occasion, Ronaldo received the Prestige award at the Portugal Football Globes, underscoring his ongoing impact in football. “This isn’t a farewell award,” he remarked. “It symbolizes years of hard work, dedication, and ambition. I thrive on competition, especially with younger players, and that keeps my passion alive.”
