The United skipper was the Red Devilsā outstanding performer as they beat Sheffield United 4-2 at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
His brace restored parity for the team and then gave them a lead. He then went on to grab an assist for Rasmus Hojlundās 85th-minute strike.
Fernandes now has 10 goals and seven assists to his name in 32 Premier League appearances this term.
Even more impressive are his creative numbers. The midfielder has created 99 chances in the Premier League and 140 across all competitions ā the most of any player in Europeās big-five leagues.
In his last two games alone (vs. Coventry City and Sheffield United), the skipper has fashioned 18 chances. Such has been the level of his impact, especially during a season in which United have struggled on the pitch.

Speaking on the latest episode of the Stick to Football podcast, former Lionesses star Jill Scott pinpointed Fernandesā tantrums and perceived poor attitude at his teammates and match officials. Scott suggested that Fernandesā theatrics could be a sign that he is not the unifying symbol currently needed in the Old Trafford dressing room.
However, Arsenal legend Ian Wright didnāt have any of it as he stood up for the Portuguese playmaker.
Wright said, āYeah but Jill, Brunoās a winner, heās got his fault where you see him doing that [throws arms in the air].āp>
Keane snapped back, āHeās won nothing in his career! Heās 29 years of age, heās won nothing!ā
Wright replied, āHeās the kind of player that is tryingā¦ā
Keane doubled down as he remarked, āWhatās he won in his career? Heās won very little by the way.ā
Wright then stated, āIn respects of wanting to be a winner, his standards are high.ā He added, āAnd letās face it, take Bruno out of Man United right now, weāre talking about players who have improved or havenāt, if heās not doing what heās doing, Man United are nowhere near where they are.āp>
āHeās frustrated, he probably sees it in training every day, people not maybe up to the standard of what heās looking for.ā
āAnd it just spills over on a Saturday, because he brings it, If Man United are going to be saved in a game, itās probably him whoās going to do it. Yes, heās got every right to be upset with them, because they should be doing better.āp>
Keane conceded that Fernandes is a fine player but went on to explain that he doesnāt improve his teammates. āI think heās a brilliant player, no doubt about that, a talented boy, but does he help people out? Does he make the other players around him better? The answer is 100 per cent no.āp>
