Ruben Loftus-Cheek on Christian Pulisic partnership: “It’s a joy to play with him”

Ruben Loftus-Cheek on Christian Pulisic partnership: “It’s a joy to play with him”

Christian Pulisic’s transfer to AC Milan last summer not only provided the U.S. men’s national team star with a new opportunity, but also reconnected him with several former teammates.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek was one of those former teammates that Pulisic reunited with this season after the duo previously featured at English Premier League side Chelsea. Both Pulisic and Loftus-Cheek have featured heavily for the Rossoneri this season as they remain in the race for Serie A and Europa League success.

Pulisic has been one of the better players for Stefano Pioli’s squad this campaign, logging seven goals and six assists in 29 combined appearances. After a tough ending to his Chelsea career, the 25-year-old has gotten back in his groove in Milan, using relationships with Loftus-Cheek among others to do so.

Loftus-Cheek will certainly team up with Pulisic in several more matches this season and praised him for his impact in the squad so far.

“After playing so long with Christian, I know what he likes to do and where he likes the ball,” Loftus-Cheek said in a club interview on social media. “We have a good connection. Especially at the start of the season, we were both playing on the right side. It is a joy to play with him.”

AC Milan sits third in Serie A ahead of Sunday’s crucial league showdown with Napoli. The Rossoneri will then host French club Rennes in the first leg of their Europa League knockout round playoff tie on home soil.
