Rudy Gobert and Draymond Green have had some major beef in the past, and Gobert has spoken about the challenge of facing Draymond in the second round.
“He’s Draymond – he’s an all-time great defender,” Gobert said. “He’s going to be very physical. He’s going to be himself, right? For me, it’s really about being myself and also being physical and doing all the things I do to help my team win.”
Gobert seems ready to embrace playing against a player like Green.
“I enjoy it,” Gobert said. “I enjoy the competitive aspect of the game and the physicality and all these things. So, I’m excited. I’m excited. He’s a fierce competitor, and so am I.”
Meanwhile, Green is too busy bashing Dillon Brooks to worry about Gobert right now.
Draymond was not happy that after the Rockets lost the series, Brooks couldn’t even shake anyone’s hand.
“Dillon Brooks couldn’t come through in this series in large part because nobody on the court respects you,” Green said. “So anything you do, the way it’s going to be looked at, the way it’s going to be received, it ain’t beneficial to your team when you trying to win championships, you know what I’m saying? When you trying to compete at the highest level and you that type of guy, it ain’t beneficial to your team and they catch you in the end.”
“Dillon Brooks ran off the court. So when I say you see what guys are made of, he ran off the court. Like ain’t shake nobody up. And you was, you admitted that you was trying to hurt Steph’s hand, which again, fine by me, bro. Like I get it. We all get it when you hoop. You know what I’m saying? So if you going to be on that type of time, you got that time in the press, on that time all the time. You going to be talking, you going to be Mr. Big Bad Wolf. Don’t lose and then not face the music. Don’t be that guy. Because again, you lose a lot of respect for guys in that moment.”
