In a match that lasted one hour and 16 minutes, Sabalenka struck three aces, won 84 percent of her first serve points, hit 14 winners and broke serve on three occasions.
Improving to 2-0 against Zheng in lifetime meetings, Sabalenka will remain at No. 2 in the world when the latest rankings are released.
Zheng, who was appearing in her first-career Major final, will improve her ranking to No. 7 on Monday. The 21-year-old didn’t play a seeded player throughout her seven matches in Melbourne.
Sabalenka ousted reigning US Open winner Coco Gauff and former French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova earlier in the tournament.
Sunday’s action in Melbourne will feature No. 3 seed Daniil Medvedev facing No. 4 seed Jannik Sinner. Medvedev leads the pair’s head-to-head 6-3.
