The New Orleans Saints turned in a disappointing 2023 NFL season despite the talent on the roster.

New Orleans made a splash the previous offseason by bringing in Derek Carr after he was released by the Las Vegas Raiders, but the quarterback struggled to get on the same page in head coach Dennis Allen’s offense.

However, Carr remains under contract for the next couple of years which means he’ll have time to get back on track in 2024.

Meanwhile, the 2024 NFL Draft has produced some exciting moments including the run on offensive players in the first round.

Six quarterbacks went in the first 12 picks, but then the draft experienced a drought at the position as no quarterbacks were taken in rounds 2 through 4.

The Saints finally ended the streak, though, when they took Spencer Rattler No. 150 overall, via Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Rattler was widely projected to be a late Day 2 pick because of his arm talent, but the signal-caller unexpectedly dropped to the fifth round where New Orleans pounced on the opportunity to improve their backup quarterback spot.

The South Carolina product has the potential to develop into a starter at some point as he showed real flashes in college, though he’ll need a couple of years to get there.

The Saints are a near-perfect landing spot for Rattler who can develop behind the scenes, and it’ll be interesting to see what he looks like down the line.
