The Pittsburgh Steelers have had a complete revamp of their quarterback room this offseason, completing the overhaul by trading former first-round pick Kenny Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The QB market in free agency was active, as many teams brought in new backup quarterbacks as well, including Mason Rudolph and Mitch Trubisky leaving the Steelers as well for the Tennessee Titans and Buffalo Bills, respectively.

According to analyst Andrew Fillipponi, the New Orleans Saints were also in the market for Pickett and offered a fifth-round pick in addition to a future late-round pick.

If this report is true, this package wasn’t close to what the Eagles offered.

Philly gave up a 2024 third-round pick and a pair of 2025 seventh-rounders for Pickett and a 2024 fourth.

Pickett had a disappointing two years in Pittsburgh with 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions combined and only had one game where he threw multiple touchdown passes.

New Orleans doesn’t have a traditional backup quarterback, with Taysom Hill serving as the primary backup to Derek Carr, so this report might raise a few eyebrows and make fans wonder if the team would perhaps be open to going after a mid-round QB in the draft at some point.

There is a lot of depth at the position in this year’s draft, with so many guys at the top of the first round potentially pushing down the other quarterbacks farther than they’d otherwise go.

Could New Orleans be a surprise destination for guys like Bo Nix or Michael Penix Jr. in the second round to potentially take over for Carr in a year or two?
