For years, Philadelphia Eagles fans did not like Saquon Barkley.

Now, they’re going to buy his jersey.

The Penn State product is coming back home in one of the biggest transactions of the NFL offseason, and he’ll now get to experience what it’s like to have Eagles Nation rooting for him.

In a sitdown with Dianna Russini of The Athletic, he talked about how his perspective on Eagles fans had changed (via Sports Radio 94 WIP).

The former New York Giants star admitted that he thought they were crazy, but he now knows just how much football means to them.

He talked about the fact that he knows that the fans actually have a bad week if they don’t play well or lose, and that’s a heavy burden to carry for any player.

Philadelphia fans have always had a bit of a reputation.

However, they will also stand by their own until the end of time, and once you’ve earned their hearts, you’re an icon, an idol, and a hero in the City of Brotherly Love.

Notably, Barkley has a big chip on his shoulder entering the upcoming campaign, as the Giants didn’t seem to value him enough.

He should be able to bring that toughness that Eagles fans love to watch from their players.

And if he stays healthy and plays as well as everybody knows he’s capable of, it shouldn’t take long before the fan base embraces him as one of their own, even despite his past in the Big Apple.
