SBI USMNT Man of the Match: Tyler Adams

SBI USMNT Man of the Match: Tyler Adams

Sunday night marked the first time in 15 months that Tyler Adams started a match for the U.S. men’s national team and the team captain did not disappoint against rivals Mexico.

Adams delivered a stunning winning goal for the USMNT in Sunday’s 2-0 CONCACAF Nations League Final victory over El Tri. The 25-year-old earned SBI Man of the Match honors after delivering a solid 45 minutes in his first start since the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Adams lined up a 30+ yard missile before halftime and hit pay dirt by finding the top-left corner. Guillermo Ochoa dove to his right to try and deny Adams from scoring, but watched as the USMNT midfielder raced off to celebrate his second senior international goal.

Adams was substituted off at halftime as part of his minutes limit since returning to competitive action, but watched from the sidelines as Gio Reyna added a second and final goal for the USMNT.

The Bournemouth midfielder completed 89% of his passes, drew one foul, and won one duel in the match.

Adams edged out Gio Reyna, Weston McKennie, and Chris Richards for Man of the Match honors.

What did you think of Adams’ performance? How do you see his Nations League performances carrying over to Bournemouth’s remaining schedule?
