Scheffler extends winning streak with victory at RBC Heritage – Golf Update

Scheffler continues hot streak with RBC Heritage win - Golf News

Scottie Scheffler showcased his dominance at the RBC Heritage by clinching victory in back-to-back weeks following his Masters’ triumph, securing his fourth PGA Tour win in five starts.

Starting the tournament with a 2-under 69, Scheffler surged ahead with three outstanding rounds of golf at the Harbour Town Golf Links. He wrapped up the event with scores of 65, 63, and 68, finishing at 19-under-par. This performance saw him three shots ahead of Sahith Theegala, with Wyndham Clark and Patrick Cantlay tied for third place.

During the event, on the 15th hole, Scheffler faced a potential streak-ending moment after putting his approach shot into the water. However, he managed to salvage the situation by firing a pitching wedge to the back of the green, followed by a precise shot towards the hole. He then sunk an 11-foot putt for par, prompting a rare fist pump from the world no.1 as play was paused due to darkness, with Scheffler holding a five-shot lead.

Continuing on Monday morning, Scheffler completed his final round with three pars and a bogey on the last hole to secure the win. His achievement marked him as the first player since Bernhard Langer in 1985 to claim victory at both The Masters and the RBC Heritage in consecutive weeks.

Before his bogey on the 18th hole, Scheffler impressively played 68 consecutive holes without a bogey, showcasing his exceptional skill. At one point during the tournament, he went an impressive 53 consecutive holes with a score of 4 or better on his card.
