Scottie Scheffler emerges victorious at the 2024 Travelers Championship

Scottie Scheffler wins 2024 Travelers Championship

Despite windy conditions, Scottie Scheffler dominated the 2024 Travelers Championship in Connecticut this week.

Scheffler shot a 65 at TPC River Highlands on Sunday to finish at 22 under, securing his sixth title of the season. This achievement made him the first player since Tiger Woods in 2009 to win six times in a season.

The leaderboard was packed with well-known names like Tony Finau, Tom Kim, Patrick Cantlay, and Justin Thomas. Tom Hoge also made a late surge with six birdies on the back nine and three in his final four holes, finishing at 20 under with a Sunday score of 62.

Although Kim aimed to be the wire-to-wire winner, ultimately, Scheffler’s performance overshadowed his attempts. Kim’s strong play led to his best finish of the year, with a second top-10 finish of the season.

On the back nine, Scheffler secured the lead with three consecutive birdies, solidifying his remarkable season. Even when faced with distractions on the 18th hole, he maintained composure and made par, clinching the victory.

In a playoff, Kim tried to force a victory with a birdie on 18 but faltered on the first hole, allowing Scheffler to claim the title with a par.

Despite his own strong performance, Hoge acknowledged Scheffler’s dominance and the unlikely event of his collapse down the stretch.

Scheffler’s consistent success has placed him in first or second place in eight of his last ten starts, a feat not seen since Arnold Palmer’s similar success in 1962.

Other notable players like Finau, Thomas, Cantlay, and Bhatia tied for fifth place at 18 under.
