Scottie Scheffler is set to end 2023 on top of the Official World Golf Rankings, even if the recent defections cast the entire system into doubt.
What isn’t in doubt is the bankability of Scheffler as a golf brand unto himself.
He doesn’t have a flashy reputation, but big brands have a lot of trust in the American, whose current run as the No.1 golfer in the world has been his longest since his return to the top in May.
He claimed three titles in 2023, winning the Phoenix Open for the second time and the Players Championship for the first before claiming the Hero World Challenge at the head of a 20-man field.
Scheffler tied for tenth place in the 2023 Masters Tournament in April, where he was the reigning champion. He shot a final-round 65 in the 2023 PGA Championship in May, two strokes behind Brooks Koepka in a tie for second place. Scheffler returned to No.1 in the Official World Golf Ranking as a consequence of this result. Scheffler then finished in third place at the June 2023 U.S. Open.
Scheffler has 18 straight top-12 finishes in the 2022–2023 season, a stretch only surpassed by Tiger Woods in 2000–01.
His 2023 win at the Player’s Championship resulted in his biggest single payday with the tournament handing him a $4,500,000 cheque after his triumph at TPC Sawgrass.
Scheffler joined the PGA Tour in 2018 following a stellar career at the University of Texas, where he helped the school win three Big 12 titles.

Despite the lavish earnings, Scheffler still drives his modest 2012 Yukon and stays in a relatively humble home in his hometown of Dallas.

Scheffler gained considerable clout with sponsors thanks to his 2022 Masters triumph which saw him sign a massive multi-year deal with TaylorMade.
His deal with the famous golf gear manufacturer is not exclusive as he still has an arrangement with Titleist who supply him with his balls, Vokey Wedges and Scotty Cameron Putter.
Besides those club suppliers, he has also signed endorsement deals with Nike, Rolex, Netjets, and Variety Community Bank.
Scheffler makes around $6million per year from endorsements and other commercial relationships. It is unclear exactly how much each sponsor pays Scheffler, but it is believed that Nike are his biggest sponsor in terms of dollar amounts paid over.
Further successes on the PGA Tour will only enhance Scheffler’s earning ability, and he has so far resisted the temptation to jump ship to LIV Golf for an even bigger payday.
