The Seattle Seahawks will head into the 2024 NFL season with high hopes of bouncing back after coming up just short of making the NFL playoffs last season while the NFC West-rival San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams advanced to the postseason.
Along with missing the playoffs after a promising 2022 campaign the previous year, the Seahawks saw longtime head coach Pete Carroll step down and assume another role with the team, which is a drastic change, to say the least.
Now, the Seahawks are turning to 37-year-old Mike Macdonald as their new head coach while keeping veteran quarterback Geno Smith under center for the upcoming season.
As expected, Smith will be the starter for the Seahawks in Week 1, when they host the Denver Broncos at Lumen Field.
During the offseason, the Seahawks made a trade with the Washington Commanders to acquire quarterback Sam Howell, who presumably will be the backup to Smith moving forward.
Now, the Seahawks have added to their QB room by signing former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Jaren Hall to the practice squad, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

With the Seahawks leaning on Smith and Howell, who are two pretty good options at the quarterback position, the team needs some insurance, which is likely the reason for signing Hall.
It’ll be interesting to see how Smith does during the upcoming season as Seattle tries to right the ship as the post-Carroll era begins.
