With the 2024 NFL regular season set to start on Thursday, teams are starting to make their final preparations for Week 1 and hoping to get the new year off to a strong start.

It is also not a good time for new injuries to come up, especially for teams that are on the bubble.

The Seattle Seahawks, one of those teams that will have to work very hard just to make the playoffs, are dealing with a thigh injury that has caused veteran wide receiver Tyler Lockett to be limited during practice, per Around the NFL.

Lockett has been a mainstay for the Seahawks’ offense for years, and at age 31, he’s still going strong, even though his production dipped somewhat last season.

He had 79 catches for 894 yards and five touchdowns compared to 84 receptions, 1,033 yards and nine touchdowns in 2022.

2022 was the year when, despite trading longtime franchise quarterback Rusell Wilson during the previous offseason, they made the playoffs behind an incredible year from Geno Smith, who to that point had only been considered a decent backup QB.

But Seattle couldn’t build on that success last season, and they just missed out on another playoff berth with a 9-8 record.

It will be difficult for them to get back to the postseason this winter, as the rest of the NFC seems to be improving.

The Los Angeles Rams, after a brief bout of bad football in 2022, are on the rise, as are the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears, two young teams with bright futures.

In addition, the Arizona Cardinals have a potential star wide receiver in rookie Marvin Harrison Jr., and the Washington Commanders are looking to build a winning team around rookie QB Jayden Daniels.

But the Seahawks have something those teams don’t have a lot of: veteran experience.
