Seattle’s Uchenna Nwosu Placed on Injured Reserve Due to Thigh Injury from Week 5

The Seattle Seahawks are 3-2 after five games in the 2024 season. Geno Smith helped lead the team to three straight wins, but they have lost their last two games. Seattle fell 42-29 to the Lions in Week 4 and 29-20 to the Giants at home in Week 5.

With a 3-2 record, the Seahawks currently hold first place in the NFC West. In Week 5 against the Giants, linebacker Uchenna Nwosu suffered a thigh injury. Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network reported that Nwosu has been placed on injured reserve by the Seahawks. This means he will miss at least the next four games for Seattle. With a bye in Week 10, Nwosu will not be eligible to return until the team faces the 49ers in mid-November.

Uchenna Nwosu Out for Next Four Games for Seattle Seahawks

In the second round of the 2018 NFL draft, Uchenna Nwosu was drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers. After playing four seasons in LA, with 62 games and 25 starts, Nwosu recorded 15.0 sacks and 132 combined tackles. Following the 2021 season, Nwosu signed a two-year, $19 million deal with the Seahawks. The 27-year-old has spent the last three seasons with Seattle.

Nwosu played all 17 games for the Seahawks in 2022, achieving a career-high 9.5 sacks and 66 combined tackles. However, in 2023, a pectoral injury limited Nwosu to just six games. During the 2024 preseason, he suffered a sprained MCL but did not end up on injured reserve. Despite this, Nwosu missed the first four games of the season. His return in Week 5 against the Giants was short-lived as he suffered a significant injury, placing him on injured reserve and ruling him out until mid-November. This is a setback for the Seahawks as they were counting on Nwosu’s production on defense.
