Serena Williams Admits To Using Own Breast Milk To Help Treat Sunburn

Tennis icon Serena Williams has confessed to her fans on social media that she has been using breast milk to treat sunburn.

Williams, 42, retired from professional tennis last summer, playing her farewell tournament at the 2022 US Open. But she’s been very active on social media, connecting with the wider tennis ecosystem through her private life and business ventures.

A few days ago, the 23-time Grand Slam champion posted a video on TikTok in which she explained an unpleasant experience of getting sunburned under her eye owing to her sensitive skin. Serena stated that she would use her leftover breast milk to treat it.

In the video, Serena illustrated how she did it. She shook the bottle of breast milk before spraying some of it on a cloth that she gently placed under her eye. Immediately, Williams felt a reaction while dabbing the cloth on her skin, saying that she was already “feeling better.”

“So I completely got burned under my eye. I was doing this retinol and clearing my skin. I have sensitive skin, so I was in the sun. Long story. Anyway, I’m trying some breast milk.”

Serena also added that she has been using the same experiment on her daughter, presumably having received expert advice. She stated that she would stick to this routine for a week and see if she would notice any changes in her own skin.

“It works for my kid. They say put breast milk on everything, and I have a lot extra so I’m gonna try it for a week or so under my eye and see how it goes.

In the video’s caption, Serena later narrated that her sunburn disappeared within a week and confirmed that the breast milk remedy worked. She also asked her followers for their ideas on dealing with the ordeal.

“Okay, is this totally weird??? I have to say, after a week of using MY breast milk under my eye – it worked! I’m dying to hear your thoughts. Be nice, lol.”
