Sergino Dest delivers winning goal for PSV

Sergino Dest delivers winning goal for PSV

Friday served as Sergino Dest’s time to enjoy the hero role for PSV.

Dest delivered the winning goal for Peter Bosz’s men in a 1-0 Eredivisie triumph over Go Ahead Eagles. The U.S. men’s national team fullback earned Man of the Match honors as PSV remained unbeaten in league play.

Dest’s curling effort into the top-right corner after 10 minutes boosted PSV in front 1-0. Despite going down to 10 men following Armando Obispo’s two yellow card offenses, PSV would have enough to hang on for a crucial road win.

The 23-year-old Dest led all players in chances created (3), dribbles completed (5), duels won (8), and most accurate passer in the match (97%). Dest now has two goals and five assists in Eredivisie play, continuing to be one of PSV’s top performers this season.

PSV sits 13 points ahead of Feyenoord in the league title race and next visits Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday in UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second leg action.

Dest will seek strong back-to-back performances over the next week before likely USMNT inclusion for CONCACAF Nations League action.
