Sergino Dest ruled out for remainder of PSV season with knee injury

Sergino Dest to miss rest of PSV season due to knee injury

Sergino Dest, one of PSV’s standout performers in the 2023-24 season, will now miss the rest of the Eredivisie schedule due to a serious knee injury he sustained in training, as announced by the Dutch club on Sunday. The U.S. men’s national team full back confirmed on his Instagram that he will be sidelined for the remainder of the club season.

Dest, who joined PSV on a season-long loan last fall, has been a key player for Peter Bosz’s squad, contributing two goals and seven assists in 37 appearances this season. He has played a significant role in PSV’s success in both the UEFA Champions League and the Eredivisie, where they currently hold a nine-point lead at the top of the table with four league matches remaining.

Despite missing the CONCACAF Nations League semifinal, Dest returned to help the USMNT secure a 2-0 victory over Mexico in the final. While PSV has been rumored to be interested in acquiring Dest on a permanent basis from Barcelona, this potential move may be affected by his recent injury setback.
