Sergino Dest scores first PSV goal to extend unbeaten start in Eredivisie

Sergino Dest scores first PSV goal to extend unbeaten start in Eredivisie

Sergino Dest has been a consistent performer since he arrived on loan at Dutch giants PSV and the American full back was finally able to celebrate his first goal for the club on Sunday.

Dest scored the third goal for Peter Bosz’s squad in a 4-0 Eredivisie rout of AZ Alkmaar on Sunday afternoon. The result moved PSV to a perfect 16-0-0 in league play, 10 points clear of Feyenoord in the race for the league title.

Fellow U.S. men’s national team teammates Malik Tillman and Ricardo Pepi also featured in the rout.

After Luuk De Jong and Ismael Saibari propelled PSV into a 2-0 advantage, Dest extended the lead in the 16th minute off of a great feed from Tillman. Tillman’s pass hit Dest in stride, allowing the left back to drill a low shot into the bottom-right corner.

It marked Dest’s first goal this calendar year for club and country.

De Jong would cap the final score at 4-0 before the hour mark, giving PSV a bounce-back result following a 1-1 midweek UEFA Champions League draw vs. Arsenal.

Dest logged 90 minutes at left back, Tillman played 69 minutes and Pepi played 21 minutes off the bench.

PSV will conclude its 2023 schedule in KNVB Cup play on Dec. 21 against FC Twente at the Philips Stadion.
