Sharapova Opens Up About ‘Moving On’

Sharapova Opens Up About ‘Moving On’

Maria Sharapova was one of the biggest stars we’ve had in recent memory, yet moving on from tennis wasn’t hard for her.

Sharapova’s story was sensational as she emerged as a teenager and quickly captivated the world. She became one of the biggest stars in the world, the most popular tennis player in the world, and just the face of the sport.

The career itself ended up being pretty good, albeit not as great as some people expected it. Many things contributed to that, but ultimately the Russian was pretty happy with how it turned out.

Even though her life was dedicated to tennis, she didn’t feel heartbroken over leaving the sport. As a very curious person with many interests outside of the court, Sharapova quickly found her passions after retiring and is enjoying life away from the sport right now.

It’s not the case for many players because quite a few keep playing even though they shouldn’t. It’s hard to close that chapter of your life when you’ve been dedicated to it for decades.

For Sharapova, it was a clean break-up. She even admitted in a recent interview that there is nothing in her house that would allude to her ever playing tennis. She called her career a special part of her life but confirmed that she moved on rather quickly.

No. If you come to my home, you wouldn’t even know I played tennis. It is special, but you do move on very quickly. Just really quick.

Some might find a reason why her career never turned out as legendary as some might have hoped – there was a lack of obsessiveness over it. One-of-a-kind careers come from an obsession with success or records, and the former Russian player just never had it.
