Shea Lacey faces another injury blow, ruled out for remainder of season – Latest Updates on Manchester United’s squad and transfers

Academy sensation Shea Lacey set for first-team debut before current season concludes - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United’s senior team may have struggled but the age group teams have been on fire with the famed United academy churning out one top talent after the other.

The United U18s clinched the U18 Premier League North title while losing only twice all season while they also clinched the Premier League Cup for the first time. The U21s have also qualified for the play-offs, where they will face off against Arsenal.

The academy has been the source of the only sliver of hope this season from a first team perspective as most high-profile names have struggled this season.

Erik ten Hag has benefited from the breakthroughs of Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo while the rampaging injury crisis has seen him hand out debuts to the likes of Dan Gore, Willy Kambwala, Omari Forson and most recently, Ethan Wheatley.

Lacey’s season done

The forward became the 250th academy graduate to make his debut for the first team, a remarkable record and testament to the hard work done behind the scenes.

As relayed by The Peoples Person, 17-year-old Shea Lacey was next in line for a possible debut before the season concluded. But that has to wait now.

The winger revealed on social media that he has once again suffered an injury setback and is set to be out for the remainder of the season.

“Gutted to have picked up another injury to finish my season early looking forward to next season,” the Liverpudlian wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Fans eager to see him make his debut

Lacey, who recently signed his first professional deal with the club, was out for over five months due to a torn thigh muscle which restricted him to only 10 appearances this season.

Since regaining fitness, he has been a constant presence in first team training sessions where he has impressed the Dutch manager.

Following this latest setback, the club should try and look after the super talented wonderkid even more to ensure fewer disruptions moving forward.

Hopefully, the England U17 international can regain fitness before pre-season commences as fans are desperate to see him feature for the first team and they believe they have their “very own Lionel Messi“.
