Shelton confident as dark horse contender on grass courts for 2024 season

Ben Shelton has the game suited for grass and he considers himself a dark horse for this year’s grass season.

Before the grass-court season, the ATP interviewed several players about their predictions for the upcoming season, and many of them, including Shelton, picked him as the dark horse for the grass season.

Shelton’s style of play with his strong serve and willingness to go for winners make him a natural fit for grass tennis.

Despite a challenging year, Shelton remains confident in his abilities and considers himself a dark horse for the grass season.

If Shelton can continue to improve and adapt to the grass surface, he has the potential to have a successful run at Wimbledon, similar to his compatriot Christopher Eubanks who reached the quarter-finals last year.

“I’m going to choose myself as a grass-court dark horse. I think I learned a few things last year that I hope will help me this year. I think the grass suits my game well, and I am excited.”

Grass is a unique surface that players need to adapt to, and Shelton’s confidence and experience on grass could lead to a successful Wimbledon campaign.
