Shocking interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich for Marcus Rashford surfaces – Latest Manchester United news and transfer updates

Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich among surprise suitors for Marcus Rashford - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United under new co-owners INEOS are expected to be ruthless in the upcoming summer window as they seek to raise capital through sales due to rising PSR concerns.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is plotting a large-scale summer clearout and the list includes high-profile names such as Casemiro and even Marcus Rashford.

The Mancunian signed a new five-year deal last season after a scintillating season where he scored 30 times across all competitions while also providing 10 assists.

His form has fallen off a cliff this season, with the Englishman netting only eight times while assisting five goals. His lackadaisical approach when on the field, lack of effort have infuriated fans who have called for the player to be sold.

Rashford on the market

Most importantly, his off-field misdemeanors including partying after a derby defeat and calling in sick after a 12-hour night-out have severely damaged his reputation among his teammates, his manager and with the fans.

As recently relayed by The Peoples Person, the England international wants to stay and fight for his place and repay the club for having faith in him but rumours of a potential split keep gathering pace.

The Red Devils will only sell if an outstanding offer is received, which is unlikely considering the player’s inconsistent form and his humongous wages of £375,000 per week including bonuses (as per Capology).

Fichajes have now claimed that three clubs are circling including one surprise Premier League outfit — Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur.

PSG’s interest is well-known at this point with the French giants looking at the United academy graduate as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who is set to leave at the end of the current campaign.

But the other two are surprise candidates. Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou wants a versatile forward and Rashford can play as both winger and No 9. Bayern could pounce if Leroy Sane ends up jumping ship.

“Under the direction of coach Ange Postecoglou, the London club is looking to strengthen its offensive line, and Rashford emerges as an attractive option thanks to his ability to perform both as a winger on both wings and in the number 9 position.

“With the possible departure of Leroy Sané on the horizon, the Bavarian team considers Rashford as a possible candidate to reinforce their squad.”

Surprise suitors galore

Arsenal have also been linked but Charles Watts has downplayed those comments stating the Gunners are unlikely to go anywhere near the player.

“Marcus Rashford’s name seems to pop up now again on social media in connection with Arsenal. There’s not really been any links in terms of a transfer, but it seems to be a talking point amongst fans from time to time.

“We’ll have to wait and see if his future lies away from Old Trafford, but if he does go, I don’t see Arsenal as a possible destination. He’s on big wages and I just don’t see Arsenal going near them. A forward who can play out wide is certainly a priority for Arsenal, but I don’t see that being Rashford.”

More twists and turns are expected between now and the end of the season and it will be interesting to see where the boyhood United fan’s future ultimately lies.
