The Los Angeles Dodgers signed a top player in Shohei Ohtani, a guy with a unique set of skills who had already won two AL MVP awards.

What they didn’t imagine is that he had room to get even better.

That’s apparently what he is doing right now.

“In his first season with the @Dodgers, Shohei Ohtani is off to an incredible start,” MLB tweeted, with a graphic with some key stats.

Ohtani is leading the league in batting average with a .364 mark.

That has never happened in any of his MLB seasons, but even though it’s still too early to think about a batting title, he is hitting the cover off the ball and it needs to be said.

Additionally, nobody has more hits than him, at 36, and he also paces the circuit in slugging percentage, OPS, and doubles.

In other words, we are starting to get to uncharted territory, even for him.

The sky is the limit with the Japanese star.

In a year in which he was betrayed by his best friend and switched organizations for the first time since 2018, he has managed to stay focused and has been incredibly productive.

Many times, fans discuss the ceiling of certain players; how would they perform in an absolute best-case scenario.

With Ohtani, however, there doesn’t seem to be a ceiling.

He never ceases to amaze us, in every sense of the word.

Hopefully he can remain healthy in 2024 and return to pitching in 2025, showing the whole extent of his talents.
