Should You Move Ja’Marr Chase, Drake London, and Marquise Brown?

The 2023 regular season is about to come to an end, but the dynasty trade market is about to heat up with many fantasy football managers trying to acquire upcoming draft assets and other players to retool their roster for the 2024 season.

Should dynasty managers be aiming to buy, sell, or hold WRs like Ja’Marr Chase, Drake London, and Marquise Brown as we approach the season finale?

Should You Trade Ja’Marr Chase in Dynasty?

Relative to the high expectations many fantasy managers had for Chase heading into the 2023 campaign, he has felt like a bit of a disappointment.

If you are one of those voices, it may be worth mentioning that Chase has seen 139 targets and caught 96 passes in 2023, which are both career highs. Not to mention, he is currently the WR10 in PPR formats, which is two spots higher than he finished last season.

Sure, some of those marks require a bit of context with Chase only playing 13 games in 2022. But the fact he managed to finish as a low-end WR1 while battling injuries and losing his MVP-caliber QB shouldn’t be viewed as a negative.

If there is a dynasty manager out there who has lost any faith in him as a top dynasty asset, you should be aggressive in trying to acquire him. He is only 23 years old, has been a fantasy WR1 since entering the league, and is still going to be the alpha target earner for Joe Burrow for years to come.

There is also an argument to be made that the potential loss of fellow WR Tee Higgins this offseason could lead to an even higher target share in 2024, which could raise his already sky-high ceiling a bit more next year.

It is hard to imagine dynasty shareholders of Chase parting ways with him for anything less than three firsts, which makes him a solid hold at this time. But his best fantasy days may be ahead of him very shortly.

Final Verdict: Hold

Should You Trade Drake London in Dynasty?

Those dynasty managers who invested an early first-round pick a couple of years ago to acquire London have likely been disappointed with the overall production from such a talented player.

Sure, most dynasty shareholders are likely willing to be patient with him given his current situation with the Atlanta Falcons’ subpar passing offense and a head coach who appears to care less about finding ways to get him the ball regularly than he does about winning football games in the NFL.

Despite his elite contested-catch ability, London has just six touchdowns through his first two seasons. Unfortunately, this has led to a pair of finishes outside of the top 30 at the WR position in PPR formats to start his career.

However, things can change in a hurry for his fantasy outlook if the team decides to part ways with Arthur Smith at the end of the season. A change at head coach and an upgrade at quarterback could drastically change his fantasy fortunes overnight.

Well, that night may not be very far away and could come as soon as this Monday.

London has flashed plenty of talent on tape through his first two seasons and is still just 22 years old. He could easily become a big fantasy contributor as soon as next year if the proper changes are made in Atlanta.

His fantasy floor is a WR3 in his current situation, but it could jump into WR1 territory if the stars align for London. This makes him a great buy at the moment; he’s well worth taking a chance on for your dynasty team.

Final Verdict: Buy

Should You Trade Marquise Brown in Dynasty?

When it became clear Kyler Murray was going to return under center as the starting quarterback of the Arizona Cardinals this season, many fantasy managers had hopes of a strong finish through the fantasy playoffs for Marquise Brown.

Unfortunately, it proved to be the exact opposite. Brown was significantly out-targeted by TE Trey McBride once Murray returned to the starting lineup in Week 10.

The arrow looks like it’s pointing down for Brown heading into the 2024 offseason.

The Cardinals currently hold a top-five pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and have seemingly put a vote of confidence into Murray being their QB moving forward. This means Arizona is definitely in play for selecting a wide receiver in this upcoming draft.

Names like Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabers, and Rome Odunze could all be potential options when the Cardinals are on the clock, which means the odds of Brown being re-signed by Arizona are becoming increasingly unlikely.

Sure, a change of scenery could get Brown back on track, but he’ll be 27 heading into next year and a player with his skill set isn’t one that ages particularly well.

He is an undersized player who has started missing time due to injury over the last two seasons. He is a vertical threat who has seen his production dip in three straight years. Also, he has never produced a top-20 fantasy season in PPR formats throughout his entire NFL career.

His lack of production to finish the year while entering free agency this offseason probably makes him a better buy than sell at the moment. However, I don’t see a whole lot of fantasy destinations that excite me in 2024.

I’d prefer to hold onto him until he finds his new home this offseason and sell him when the buzz of free agency kicks in.

Final Verdict: Hold
