Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz impressed with their performances in the fourth round of Wimbledon on Sunday afternoon.

Sinner defeated Ben Shelton with a 6-2, 6-4, 7-6(9) victory on Court 1. In an exciting third set, Sinner showcased his skills with a between-the-leg shot in response to Shelton’s powerful return, followed by a perfect forehand pass.

“That was just luck,” Sinner modestly commented during his on-court interview. “Nothing to talk about. Sometimes… I don’t know what to say, honestly.”

Sinner has been on an impressive run this season, improving to 42-3 with his win on Sunday. He has won seven consecutive sets since dropping a set in his second-round match against Matteo Berrettini.

Meanwhile, Alcaraz had a more challenging journey to the quarterfinals. The defending Wimbledon champion and recent French Open winner fought back from a two sets to one deficit against Frances Tiafoe in the third round and defeated Ugo Humbert in four sets on Sunday.

Reflecting on his performance against Humbert, Alcaraz mentioned a memorable point against Sinner at the 2022 U.S. Open. He emphasized his fighting spirit and belief in his ability to retrieve any shot and make winning plays.

Sinner and Alcaraz are set to compete in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, with the possibility of facing each other in the semifinals at the All-England Club.
