Sinner Fortunate to Have Tennis Success Despite Beginning as a Hobby

Jannik Sinner never expected to become a tennis player, starting the sport as a hobby, but now sees it as a fortunate career choice.

Initially focused on skiing during his childhood in Italy, Sinner switched to tennis after discovering it as a hobby, ultimately choosing it over skiing, a decision that led him to the top rankings in the world.

As the number one player heading into Wimbledon, Sinner reflects on his unexpected journey in tennis and the joy he finds in playing the sport he loves.

Despite the shift from hobby to career, Sinner maintains his passion for tennis, considering it a source of enjoyment and gratitude for the opportunities it has provided.

“I am very lucky because I started tennis as a hobby and now it has become a job. In my mind it is still a hobby. I love going out on the court and just playing. I think there are no negative things.”

“I know how much I have sacrificed to be in the position I’m in. It’s always an honor to go out on court. I think that’s one of the reasons why I love tennis, I don’t take anything for granted.”

With his skills on grass courts, Sinner is poised for success at Wimbledon, seen as a formidable contender alongside Novak Djokovic. Despite challenges, he remains focused and appreciative of the competitive opportunities in tennis.
