In the week after a Grand Slam, most of the ATP‘s top-ranked players prefer to give their bones some much-needed rest, but some opt for immediate accumulation of court time on grass.
Neither of the top six players was in action this past week, so there were no significant changes in the Top 10. Jannik Sinner is commemorating his second week as World No. 1. He’s got a huge lead at the top despite dropping 45 points from last year’s quarterfinal appearance in Den Bosch.
The Italian is 900 points clear of Carlos Alcaraz. The Spaniard has two title defenses on grass worth 2500 points. This means the World No. 1 ranking won’t change hands immediately after Wimbledon.
Novak Djokovic stays in third, a week after his 428-week reign as No. 1 came to an end. The Serbian is in a race against time to recover for the grass-court Grand Slam after undergoing knee surgery.
Alexander Zverev
(fourth) and Daniil Medvedev (fifth) could set up a final collision in Halle
this week. Casper Ruud and Hubert Hurkacz each cascade a spot to 8th and 9th, respectively.
The biggest mover in the Top 10 is Alex de Minaur, who captured the Libema Open. The Australian motored into 7th, a new career-high. The beaten finalist in Den Bosch, Sebastian Korda, rose three spots to 23rd.
British lefty Jack Daper ended his long wait for a maiden ATP
title. He won the Stuttgart Open from a set down against Matteo Berrettini in the final. The 22-year-old is now the new British No. 1 (31st in world rankings) and the youngest of this distinction since Andy Murray in 2009.
There are new career highs for Flavio Cobolli (49th)
and Pavel Kotov (50th). Matteo Berrettini fell short of clinching his third title in Stuttgart but still made up 30 spots in the ATP rankings. The Italian is now ranked 65th and could make a late push for a
seeding spot at Wimbledon if he excels in Halle.
French lefty Hugo Gaston is back inside the Top 70 (69th) after winning their fourth ATP challenge in Lyon, while Italian veteran Fabio Fognini has re-entered the Top 100 after reaching the Perugia Challenger quarterfinal. Be
