Jannik Sinner recently spoke about his Australian Open success and answered the question that many asked: how did he treat himself?
Sinner knows very well how to respect the money he earns, as there are many hours of grinding and working hard behind every paycheque that he earns.
Becoming one of the best players in the world takes a lot of work, and even then, it might not be possible because you need to have some talent and quite a bit of luck.
He’s fully aware that being one of the best tennis players in the world at his age is something that doesn’t happen often. He’s quite appreciative of it, and he shows it mostly through the way he handles his money.
By now, Sinner had amassed a considerable amount of money, collecting nearly $20 million in prize money in his career, and he was quite careful with it. Speaking to Vanity Fair, the Italian explained his relationship with money.
“Before buying something I always look at the price, always. If I go to a restaurant and the pasta with meat sauce costs much more than the one with tomato sauce, I take the one with tomato sauce. Not because I’m stingy, but because I respect money.”
His recent Australian Open triumph is one of the biggest prize money purses he collected in his career, and he did treat himself a little. He actually bought himself a car, but he didn’t buy a Ferrari or a Lamborghini as many would expect.
That’s just not his style, and he showed that he’s quite a unique personality also with his car choice.
“The only gift I gave myself is the car (referring to his ABT modified Audi RS6). It’s a nice car, but you don’t think of a Ferrari, a Lamborghini or a Maserati.”
