Australian Open winner Jannik Sinner improved to 13-0 in 2024 on Friday at the BNP Paribas Open, defeating Thanasi Kokkinakis 6-3, 6-0.

Never in trouble during the match, Sinner will next face No. 25 Jan Lennard Struff or Borna Coric.

Elsewhere, No. 10 seed Alex de Minaur continued his stellar season by ousting Taro Daniel 6-1, 6-2, and will take on No. 20 seed Alexander Bublik or Juncheng Shang in the next round.

No. 22 seed Francisco Cerundolo and No. 31 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime also advanced in comfortable fashion.

Still to come on Friday, defending champion Carlos Alcaraz will look to make the round of 32 against Matteo Arnaldi. The Spaniard has not won a tournament since Wimbledon last summer.

On the women’s side, top seed Iga Swiatek breezed by Danielle Collins 6-3, 6-0 and will take on Camila Giorgi or Linda Noskova in the next round.

Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova picked up a much-needed win over Bernarda Pera, and will next play Marta Kostyuk or Mai Hontama.

Other women’s winners on the day included: Angelique Kerber, Yulia Putintseva and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
