Jannik Sinner showcased his exceptional talent at the Six Kings Slam in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, securing his second consecutive title by triumphing over fellow competitor Carlos Alcaraz with a score of 6-2, 6-4 on Sunday evening. This victory solidified Sinner’s perfect record at the prestigious exhibition tournament.
Despite trailing Alcaraz in their overall head-to-head encounters, which now stand at 10-5 in favor of the Spaniard, Sinner demonstrated remarkable improvement against Alcaraz, having now won against him twice in this particular event. The bond between the two players extends beyond rivalry; Sinner praised their friendship, highlighting the balance of competition and camaraderie that characterizes their matches.
“It’s great to have rivals—we have a great rivalry,” Sinner expressed, emphasizing the honor it brings to play against someone of Alcaraz’s caliber. He acknowledged the many times they faced each other over the past season, reflecting on the learning experience that accompanies each match.
In the final, Sinner’s dominance was evident from the outset. He secured a break in the very first game and maintained pressure throughout the match, winning over 80 percent of his service points and never facing a single break point. Alcaraz recognized Sinner’s strong performance, noting that he struggled to find his rhythm, attributing it to Sinner’s improved serving.
“He played great today,” Alcaraz remarked. “He didn’t let me get a good rhythm… No break points today, which for me is something weird, but when he’s serving really well, it’s difficult to play.”
With this victory, Sinner is now set to travel to Vienna for the Erste Bank Open, where he will headline a competitive lineup that includes notable players such as Alexander Zverev, Alex de Minaur, Lorenzo Musetti, Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, and Alexander Bublik. Meanwhile, Alcaraz will take a break until the Paris Masters, followed by participation in the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin.
Sinner’s consistent performance and ability to rise to the occasion against top competition positions him as a formidable player as he continues through the latter part of the season.
