Sinner’s Coach Hilariously Jokes About Their Partnership

Jannik Sinner‘s coaches, Darren Cahill and Simone Vagnozzi, were in very good spirits after his win over Novak Djokovic at the 2024 Australian Open.

Sinner played in the Australian Open semi-final against Djokovic, and the Italian proved much better, winning the match in four sets. The Italian is enjoying the best days of his tennis career in recent months with a chance to win his maiden Grand Slam trophy if he beats Daniil Medvedev in the final on Sunday.

Everybody in his camp is in high spirits because it does seem like things are lining up for him to win it. The team is working well, both Darren Cahill and Simone Vagnozzi are doing tremendous work with Sinner though they have some complaints.

Speaking to the media after the match, Cahill joked that it’s a crappy job in reality because the player gives them a pretty hard time. The question was asked by Sinner himself, and not only is he giving them a hard time all the time, but he’s also taking their money in card games, making it even worse.

“It’s crappy job. We are not paid enough. The guy gives us a hard time all the time, and he’s forever actually taking our money in cards games, and he gets a lot of enjoyment about that stuff.”

All jokes aside, it’s great to see a team work that well, and it’s evident by Sinner’s recent play. The trophies won last year, the ATP Finals run, and the Davis Cup run prove Sinner is hitting a new peak with his tennis, and credit also goes to his coaches.

His rise wasn’t so sudden as that of Carlos Alcaraz but more of a slow burn, which is okay. The final destination is the goal; we’ll see if he gets it done on Sunday.
