Sir Alex Ferguson praises Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho – Latest Man United News and Transfer Updates

Former Man United star Juan Mata waxes lyrical on Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo - Man United News And Transfer News

Sir Alex Ferguson has lavished praise on Manchester United’s exciting young duo, Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho.

The former United manager knows all about young talent as he was at the helm during the breakthrough of the famous Class of 92 with David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, Phil Neville, and Nicky Butt all becoming first team regulars during the mid-90s.

Like this group, Garnacho and Mainoo also won the FA Youth Cup then shortly after broke into the first team.

In a largely disappointing season for the Red Devils last time out, the play of these two was a shining light for the majority of United fans.

The importance the two 19-year-olds already yield on the team was clear in the FA Cup final victory when they scored the two goals in the 2-1 defeat of Manchester City.

It was not only the goals but also the fact that they were two of the club’s best performers on the day and certainly did not hide on the big occasion at Wembley.

Speaking on the golf course, Ferguson was asked about the progress that both players are making, and he stated, “they’re young. They’ve both shown they have the composure and the confidence to play in the first team.”

The 82-year-old also went on to praise their attitude and stated, “they’ve not been daunted by it, it shows their courage.”

The talent of both youngsters has also been recognized beyond club level as Kobbie Mainoo wrestled a starting place off Trent Alexander-Arnold and Connor Gallagher to start all of England’s knockout games at Euro 2024 and Garnacho made his first start for Argentina in a major tournament at Copa America.

What’s more, both players are in the running to win the Golden Boy award as Garnacho currently sits third and Kobbie Mainoo seventh in the rankings.

New summer signing Leny Yoro is currently fifth on the list, meaning United has three of the top seven most exciting young talents in the world at the club right now. If they somehow manage to steal Joao Neves from under Paris Saint-Germain’s noses, it could be four.

Added to the talents of Joshua Zirkzee, Rasmus Hojlund, and Amad Diallo, there is much for United fans across the globe to get excited by for the upcoming season and hopefully for years to come.
