Skip Bayless: Young Quarterback Exceeds Expectations

Analyst Says NFC Team Drafting A QB 'Would Not Be Smart'

The Daniel Snyder era of the Washington Commanders was rough, as the longtime team owner never seemed to provide the team with what it needed to succeed from year to year while creating a terrible work environment for his employees that ultimately resulted in him having to sell the team.

Ultimately, Josh Harris and his ownership group were able to buy the team, which has turned out to be exactly what the storied franchise needed, as they made some considerable changes to shake things up ahead of the 2024 NFL season.

Along with overhauling the coaching staff and making Dan Quinn the successor to Ron Rivera, the team had the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, which gave them the opportunity to bring in Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels to be their new leader under center in the nation’s capital.

Although there were some question marks about whether Daniels would be able to be successful on the NFL level, those questions have seemingly disappeared, with the young quarterback being better than advertised in the first five games of his professional career.

The Commanders may have lost to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, but the team was impressive against one of the best teams in the league and put pressure on Lamar Jackson and company, with Daniels having another stellar performance, which has convinced Skip Bayless that the rookie is the real deal.

“Jayden Daniels live up to his hype,” Bayless said. “He backed it up!”

With Daniels in the fold for the foreseeable future and Quinn getting it done as the new head coach, the Commanders are a promising young team that might be able to make some noise this season.

Although there is a lot of football left to be played, the consensus seems to be that Washington will be in the playoff picture in the NFC and might be this year’s Houston Texans.
