Slot acknowledged the demands of juggling numerous away matches on short rest but insisted that squad depth was not the issue, attributing troubles more to player availability and injuries throughout the season.

Striker Alexander Isak is likely to miss the fixture against Aston Villa due to a groin issue, while midfielder Curtis Jones is also expected to be unavailable. On a positive note, Ryan Gravenberch, who suffered an ankle injury earlier this month, has rejoined training and could potentially make the squad. “Ryan trained with us yesterday, and we’ll assess if he is fit to start,” Slot confirmed.
