The Pittsburgh Steelers will look to rebound from a disappointing 2023 NFL season where they made the playoffs but were promptly bounced out.

The biggest problem for Pittsburgh last season was its offense, particularly at the quarterback position as former starter Kenny Pickett struggled to keep the team on schedule.

Head coach Mike Tomlin had no choice but to work with what he had, but the team went out and addressed the quarterback situation by signing Russell Wilson in free agency and trading for Justin Fields.

Both were fortuitous situations for Pittsburgh as Wilson was released by the Denver Broncos, while Fields was expendable after the Chicago Bears were awarded the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Wilson is slated to be the starter, though there’s a chance that Fields pushes him for the starting role when the team reports to training camp.

During the offseason, Fields was seen with Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love getting a throwing workout in via B/R Gridiron.

“Justin Fields and Jordan Love putting in work together here at elite week.”

In the short clip, both Fields and Love are seen taking snaps and running what looks like a bit of scramble drill where they climb up in the pocket before launching downfield.

In Chicago, Fields showed real flashes of being a dual-threat quarterback as he has a strong arm coupled with great running ability.

While his accuracy and decision-making could use some work, it’s easy to see why the Steelers were willing to gamble on his upside.
