At the Warriors media day, Steph Curry expressed his focus on staying relevant rather than making grand plans like winning a title or making a deep run in the upcoming season.
“I think we’re in a position where we can be a relevant team early and give ourselves a chance to compete,” Curry said via Anthony Slater. “Then assess where we are.”
Curry also mentioned coming into training camp with an open mind about how the team should play, recognizing the need to identify strengths and weaknesses and adjust the playing style accordingly.
Despite concerns from NBA fans about the team’s prospects for the season and the absence of key player Klay Thompson, Curry expressed confidence in new additions Buddy Hield, Kyle Anderson, and De’Anthony Melton, emphasizing their experience and contribution to the team.
“All three guys we brought in are established veterans who know how to play the game,” Curry remarked. “Good pieces that you need to be a championship-type team. Does that mean we’re there? I don’t know.”
Remaining true to his ‘Warrior for life’ mentality, Curry reiterated his goal of being a relevant winning team and expressed optimism about the team’s potential for success.
