Steph Curry loves nothing more than when his back is up against the wall.
And it will be well and truly this 2024-25 NBA season.
He will be without his running mate Klay Thompson for the first time ever and will be the team’s only set offensive option.
Many in the NBA media, as well as NBA fans, are saying Golden State are washed and don’t have enough to compete for a championship this upcoming season.
Curry uses this talk as fuels and wants everyone to keep talking.
“You can’t play this game for life, but the fact that being with the Warriors for this long and championship window that we’ve had, you want to keep that open for as long as possible,” Curry told People.com this week. “…I love the fact that people don’t think we can keep the pace with some of the other teams that they’re picking in the West. And I just love that challenge of stepping into a training camp and being able to create your own success — that gets me going.
“And obviously coming off of this Olympic experience, I’m trying to channel that energy all year.”
Curry proved during the Paris Games that he could handle the lion’s share of scoring responsibility on a team, after exploding in the final against France for 24 points – 12 of those in the fourth quarter.
Yes, the Warriors did miss out on players like Paul George and Lauri Markkanen over the summer, but did add De’Anthony Melton, Kyle Anderson and Buddy Hield.
If team can be underestimated and make it all the way to the Finals or even win a championship, it’s the Warriors.
Just take three seasons ago as an example.
